To better secure your sign-on to Office 365, the IT staff is requiring the activation of MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) on C21 Affiliated email accounts for staff and leadership members. To complete this task, we will require you to complete the setup outlined below using your smartphone and a computer with internet connection. *NOTE* some of the screenshot below will look different than what displays on your computer screen, but the general instructions are still the same.
- On your smart phone, download and install the “Microsoft Authenticator” app (do not sign in at this time!)
- Next, contact the C21 Affiliated helpdesk via email and let them know you are ready to enroll your affiliated email with MFA (DO NOT TRY TO ADD YOUR ACCOUNT TO APP WITHOUT SPEAKING TO THE HELPDESK!)
- After the helpdesk has confirm you are ready to activate MFA, the feature will be turned on.
- Next, open your computer’s preferred web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
- Go directly to the following URL: https://aka.ms/mfasetup
- At the Microsoft Sign In page, type in your affiliated email address and click Next. You will then enter your password and click Next again to sign-in.
- You will then get a message about "More information required". Click the blue Next button.
8. You will be brought to the Keep your account secure page. Since you should have downloaded the Microsoft Authenticator app in Step 1, you can click the blue next button to continue until you reach the QR code screen.
9. Once you reach the QR code screen, you are good to scan it using your Microsoft Authenticator app. In your app, you can do this by tapping + in the top right corner of your phone screen, selecting "Work or school account", and then tapping the "Scan QR Code" button. Once the app shows c21affiliated has been added to your app, click the Next button as seen below
10. The web page will send you an authentication test to your Authenticator app, asking you to enter the number displayed on your computer screen - enter the number into notification prompt on your phone's app and approve this message in your app and you should receive the screen below - You are then free to click the blue Next button again.
You are then to close the webpage and will have MFA set up successfully on your .com account.
*Now that MFA is activated on your account, you will need to sign in again to your .com email on any devices and O365 applications that use your O365 login - typically, these will include Outlook, Teams, & Onedrive.
**If you remove the app from your smart phone, replace your smartphone, or change your mobile number, please let the helpdesk know right away so you don’t lose access! If you encounter any errors with setup or using the app, please contact our helpdesk for assistance.
