*NOTE* IT must approve and grant access to any shared mailbox used by C21 Affiliated. If you need access to a shared mailbox or need one created, please open a ticket with the IT Helpdesk! If you are an office admin and wondering why you must use a shared mailbox, please refer to this article: Office Admins and shared mailbox usage - Why things needed to change – Century 21 Affiliated: Help Desk (zendesk.com)
Shared mailboxes work exactly like regular mailboxes, except for a few key differences.
- Shared mailboxes do not have login credentials to access them. Instead, a regular mailbox within the C21 Affiliated email system is delegated permissions to a shared mailbox, allowing that person to access the shared mailbox and enabling them send-as from it.
- An affiliated mailbox is required to access a shared mailbox - IT has no way of granting Affiliated forward-only email addresses or 3rd party emails (like Gmail) access to a shared mailbox!
- Shared mailboxes are accessed a little differently, depending on how you typically access your affiliated email. Please refer to these links below for directions on how to access a shared mailbox for the following platforms:
- Outlook Desktop/Outlook Mobile: Open and use a shared mailbox in Outlook (microsoft.com)
- Outlook on the Web: Open and use a shared mailbox in Outlook on the web (microsoft.com)
- Outlook on Mac: Open and use a shared mailbox in Outlook on MacOS (microsoft.com)
- For office admins accessing shared mailboxes, please make sure you are using that admin office mailbox for all you century 21 office communications and your personal affiliated mailbox for any private communications (such as those from HR).
