This can usually be done via your Windows taskbar by:
- Clicking on the ^ icon to expand the running start up programs
- You can hover your cursor over the program icons to see what they are. Most security software will be labeled by the software developer.
- (Top examples of 3rd party security software to look for: McAfee, Norton, Webroot, Avast, AVG, Panda Dome, Bitdefender, Avira, ESET, AURA, TotalAV, Sophos, Kaspersky, and Malwarebytes.)
- Right clicking on the security program icon to access its menu.
- Locate the option to disable the software and toggle or click it off to disable it. (This can be labeled a few different ways "disable shield", "disable anti-virus", "Stop Antivirus", etc.)
- FYI Occasionally, some security software might require a reboot of the computer to apply the changes.
- If the software needs to be re-enabled, return to your taskbar, repeat the right click, and re-enable your security software and reboot as necessary.
